Good Faith Estimate
Effective date: October 5, 2026
Under federal law, health care providers generally must give patients who do not have certain health coverage, or who are not using their coverage to pay for care, a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges before scheduled items or services are provided.
Your rights
If you are uninsured or plan to pay for care without submitting a claim to your health plan:
- You have the right to receive a written Good Faith Estimate of the total expected charges for scheduled items or services, including reasonably expected related items or services.
- If you schedule care 3 to 9 business days in advance, the provider or facility generally must give you the estimate within 1 business day after scheduling.
- If you schedule care 10 or more business days in advance, the provider or facility generally must give you the estimate within 3 business days after scheduling.
- You may request an estimate before scheduling. The provider or facility generally must give it to you within 3 business days after the request.
- You should save the estimate and compare it with your bill.
A Good Faith Estimate is based on information known when it is prepared. It is not a contract and does not prevent additional items or services from being recommended if clinical needs change. Ask for an updated estimate when the expected course of care changes.
Request an estimate from LisaCare
Ask LisaCare for a Good Faith Estimate through the private scheduling or billing method provided by the practice. For help finding that method, contact LisaCare Psychiatry and Wellness at customercare@lisacarepsychiatry.org or +1 (469) 334-4021. Do not include diagnoses, records, or other private clinical information in a general email.
LisaCare will provide the estimate in writing. It should identify the expected items or services and expected charges based on the information available at the time.
If your bill is at least $400 above the estimate
If a bill from a provider or facility is at least $400 more than that provider's or facility's Good Faith Estimate, you may be eligible to use the federal patient-provider dispute-resolution process. Keep the estimate and the bill because they are needed for a dispute.
Visit the CMS Dispute a medical bill page for eligibility requirements and current filing instructions, or call the No Surprises Help Desk at 1-800-985-3059.
